About

Hi, I’m Kaden Peterson. I’m a business student at Black Hills State University, graduating in 2027, with a focus in marketing. Outside of school I work as a sales representative and trainer, and I compete in bodybuilding. Those two things have taught me more about consistency and communication than any class could.

Why Digital Marketing

I got into sales first. I spend a lot of my time on phone calls, at trade shows and expos, and in one-on-one appointments, and what I learned quickly is that selling isn’t about the product. It’s about understanding who you’re talking to and what actually matters to them. Digital marketing is that same idea, just scaled. Instead of one conversation at a time, you’re reaching thousands of people, and you can actually measure whether the message landed. That’s what pulled me in: it’s creative work that you can put a number on.

Core Competencies

  • Direct and consultative sales: prospecting, appointment setting, needs-based selling, and objection handling
  • Sales training and leadership: onboarding and coaching new representatives
  • Customer research: identifying target demographics and building customer profiles
  • Content creation: writing social copy and promotional content that drives engagement
  • Digital marketing tools (in progress): Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, email automation, SEO and keyword research, and AI-assisted content and image creation
  • Presentation and public speaking

Experience Highlights

  • Sales Representative and Trainer – I sell direct-to-consumer through in-home and virtual demonstrations, work booths at regional trade shows and expos, and manage my own pipeline from cold outreach to close.
  • Training and Development – I run training for new representatives on phone approach, building a prospect list, identifying target customers, and handling price objections through value-based selling.
  • Event and Trade Show Sales – I represent the brand at consumer expos, which means starting conversations with strangers all day and converting that traffic into booked appointments.
  • Competitive Bodybuilding – I have competed on stage and I am currently preparing for my next show. It is not a marketing credential, but it is the clearest proof I have that I can commit to a long-term goal and execute on it daily for months without anyone checking on me.

Professional Goals

Short term, I want an internship or role where I can put digital marketing skills to work on real campaigns: running content, tracking performance, and learning from actual data instead of case studies. Long term, I want a role that combines sales and marketing strategy, and eventually to run my own business.

Industries I am most interested in: health and fitness, consumer products and direct-to-consumer brands, sports and athletic apparel, and sales and business development in any industry with a strong product.

What I Bring

I am coachable and I do not need to be managed. Sales taught me how to take rejection without losing momentum, and training other reps taught me how to explain things clearly to people who are brand new. I would rather be told directly what I am doing wrong than be comfortable, and I show up consistently, which in my experience is the part most people cannot do.
